He even gave them names: Rocky because he&#39;s &quot;solid and coolgranite rock&quot;; Colt, because he&#39;s &quot;fast and free, a spirit of a young wild horse&quot;; and Tum Tum because ambition begins and ends with his tummy&quot;. But one day, an old &quot;friend&quot; of Grandpa&#39;s, Hugo Snyder, is heard from again. He&#39;s being hassled by the F.B.I., and the boys&#39; father happens to be an F.B.I. officer. So Snyder figures if he kidnaps the father&#39;s kids, it will ease the tension, none of his own men are suitable for the task, so he hires three dim and incredibly incompetent surfers to do the deed. The boys treat them to a night of ninja moves and hilarious gags ala &#39;Home Alone&#39;. But the boys soon get captured by Snyder, and what is more, they become doubtful of their grandfather, until he bursts into action and fights Snyder. Each year, three brothers, Samuel, Jeffrey and Michael Douglas visit their grandfather, Mori Tanaka, for the summer. Mori is highly skilled in ninjutsu, and for years he has trained the boys in his techniques. After an organized crime ring proves to be too much for the F.B.I., it&#39;s time for the three ninja brothers! Using their martial artistry, they team up to battle the crime ring and outwit some very persistent kidnappers! Five years ago today, Victor Wong left this life. It&#39;s probably a little shocking, to say the least, that he passed away the day after those planes crashed into the World Trade Center buildings and brought them crashing down (although the circumstances of the buildings&#39; collapse are still somewhat sketchy). But anyway, the anniversary of his passing brings to mind his entire career, including &quot;3 Ninjas&quot;. This is mostly just one of those movies that they cranked out in the &#39;80s and early &#39;90s about a bunch of cool kids clobbering dumb adults. Nothing really creative. It seems funny the first time that you see it, but not afterwards. The youngest brother even has the same namethe actor who won an Oscar for playing Gordon Gekko in &quot;Wall Street&quot;! So, most people will probably compare this movie to &quot;Home Alone&quot;, but I don&#39;t care too much for that movie either. There are plenty of better movies that you can find. And Mr. Wong, wherever you are, we&#39;ll always remember you.<br/><br/>Still, it was pretty funny how every other word that the surfers said was &quot;Dude!&quot;. This is an awesome movie. I love the characters in it. Whoever said that it was not original and is a waste of time, must be a little mixed up on their movie knowledge. This Is a good movie on how a brother to brother relationship should be, and I love that the three boys (ninjas) respect their grandfather and love spending time with him. whenever they get into trouble they are always ready to help each other out but they also know that they can each take care of themselves so they let each other fight their own battles and try to only help when needed. I&#39;m so glad they made this movie, and the sequels are wonderful too. I really respect the people in this movie and I hope I get to meet them someday. And if God blesses me with the chance to be in movies, this will be one of the ones I look back on. I&#39;ve grown up with it, I think it&#39;s funny, entertaining and deals with family issues well. The fight sequences are well handled, the three leads are pleasant (and quite good, it seems, at the martial arts) and the violence is bloodless and amusing, with all kinds of cartoon sound effects thrown in to soften the chop-socky violence. If the audience at a sold-out Saturday afternoon showing I attended is any indication, 3 Ninjas delivers the promised action-packed, empty-headed goods.
